United Boxing Club invites you to experience Manitoba’s premier boxing event!

Melee at the Met (now Melee Gala) was first held in 2013 at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre (“The Met,” an elegant 1920s era theatre refurbished into a classy, state-of-the-art banquet centre) as a fundraiser to support UBC athletes. Since the inaugural event, Melee has evolved into a full-fledged Vegas-style boxing extravaganza with a fantastic light show and a sit down dinner in support of charity, establishing itself as one of the most anticipated dates on sports fans’ calendars.

The marquee boxing match ups for Melee Gala feature elite level athletes from the Canadian National Team and another international team. Previously, we’ve hosted outstanding teams Puerto Rico, Mexico, USA, and The Philippines. Another unique feature of Melee Gala is the UBC Corporate Challenge, whereby members from Winnipeg’s corporate community who’ve never boxed before are recruited and trained for 12 weeks with the intention of having them box on the Melee show. In turn, the participants raise money for the charity of choice.

In recent years, we’ve added The United Boxing Classic, a second show also in support of charity featuring the Canadian National Team and their opponent from Melee, as well as talented boxers from UBC and other local clubs.

We’ve really endeavoured to make Melee Gala and The United Boxing Classic not only the best possible showcase for elite caliber Olympic-style boxing in Manitoba, but also the best entertainment value for great causes.
